BOMA/Chicago Affiliate Membership Application
The undersigned hereby applies for Affiliate Membership in the Building Owners and Managers Association of Chicago and agrees, if approved, to conform to such rules, regulations, bylaws, policies and agreements as applicable to his/her class of membership. Please note: The number of BOMA/Chicago Affiliate memberships is limited to 165. The qualifications standards (see below) have been read and it has been determined that the office building industry is a valued market and that BOMA/Chicago Affiliate Membership will assist in reaching this market.
Application is by company and only one application need be submitted from each company.
Contributions or gifts to BOMA/Chicago are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. Dues payments are deductible by members as an ordinary and necessary business expense for federal income tax purposes and not as charitable contributions.
2008 AFFILIATE DUES: Supplier $2000.00; Professional $1,400.00
(Please note: Dues, with the exception of 10.76% for State and National lobbying purposes, which in accordance with the Budget Act of 1993 are non-deductible, are deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense for income tax purposes.)
AFFILIATE QUALIFICATIONS & STANDARDS FOR PARTICIPATION IN BOMA/CHICAGO
Affiliate Members are categorized as Professional or Supplier:
- Professional Affiliate is defined to include appraisers, architects, real estate attorneys, accountants, and engineers, etc., dealing directly with the commercial buildings, which provide service to the commercial office building industry in Chicago.
- Supplier Affiliate is defined as a manufacturer, distributor or supplier of products relating directly to the ownership and management of commercial office buildings in Chicago.
Affiliate Members must have all of the following completed to apply for membership:
- three (3) references from BOMA/Chicago building members in good standing (the letters must be written by the building's General/Property Manager, Assistant Property Manager, or Operations Manager ONLY);
- completed membership application;
- written letter of intention why you want to become a BOMA/Chicago member.
All Affiliate applications must be approved by the Membership Committee and the Board of Directors. Affiliate Members are non-voting members. The maximum number of Affiliate members in the Supplier Affiliate Category is 110 members and in the Professional Affiliate Category, the maximum number is 55 members.
The Affiliate Company's goals must be consistent with BOMA/Chicago adhering to standards of professionalism and integrity as defined by BOMA/Chicago. Overall, Affiliate Members should represent the entire spectrum of business servicing the office building industry and should include representation by minority firms.
Affiliate Members shall strive to provide products or services that improve the quality and efficiency of the commercial property industry, shall undertake to work with and through BOMA/Chicago to accomplish these ends and shall conduct their BOMA activities within the guidelines established by BOMA/Chicago.
Affiliate members may participate on committees of the Board in a ratio of two to one, Building members to Affiliate members. Affiliate Members will support, with resources and participation, the activities and events of BOMA/Chicago.
Affiliate Memberships are on an annual basis with renewals at the beginning of the calendar year. Affiliates not renewing their membership within 30 days following the renewal date will be dropped from membership. A waiting list is maintained.
Some functions may be open to Building members only. Affiliate Members do not qualify to be a signatory to BOMA/Chicago negotiated labor agreements.
Direct selling during Association functions by Affiliate Members is prohibited.
